Lord’s Day Message: Coordination – A heavenly teamwork

19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. 22 In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit. (Eph. 2:19-22, ESV)

7 But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift. 8 Therefore it says, “When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men.” 9 (In saying, “He ascended,” what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower regions, the earth? 10 He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.) 11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. 15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. (Eph. 4:7~16)

Message Outline:

  • A heavenly teamwork
  1. The church is a home for God and all the believers. Such a home is not only a place where we can receive warm care and life supply, but also a place to make us a heavenly group
  2. In the group, every member has God’s life as well as different spiritual gifts
  3. There is a same goal for such a group – the body of Christ to be built up and to grow
  4. For this goal, the church needs to have a heavenly teamwork that everyone joins in, coordinates and builds up together to accomplish the same goal.
  • The coordination of the Body
  1. For every individual, everyone needs to pursue Christ to grow and equip in many spiritual aspects and is willing to put oneself in the church life.
  2. For the mutual relationship, everyone needs to learn to know, to receive and to appreciate the different functions and gifts of every member. Everyone especially needs to learn to have a heart of oneness
  3. For the cooperate function, we need to learn to support each other in love, and supply our own spiritual gift to others and perfect others
  • The application in the church life
  1. Young people serving
  2. Gospel preaching
  3. The caring, nourishing, and perfecting for the brothers and sisters
  4. The service and exercise in the church meeting
