Lord’s Day Message
Topic: Dwelling in the house of God
Bible Verses:
“1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. 3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever. ” (Psm. 23, NKJ)
“So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Feed My lambs.”” (John 21:15)
“19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.” (Eph. 2:19~22)
Outlines:
- In the end of Psalm 23, it mentions the house of God. This indicates that all the spiritual experiences will bring us into the acknowledgement of the house of God. These experiences include:
- God is my shepherd and we are His flock.
- The abundant supply of God always brings us into fresh and peaceful enjoyments.
- In God’s enlightening and leading we begin to walk in the way that satisfies God.
- We experience God’s protecting, encouraging, and overcoming.
- These help us to know God and to commit ourselves to the house of God.
- From being saved we begin to experience these spiritual processes again and again:
- Every single experience or every aspect of the experiences always brings us into deeper acknowledgement and relationship with God, and also guides us into the assurance of the church.
- These are our personal spiritual growth. However, when we supply what we have gained to other brothers and sisters, it produces the reality of building up the church.
- This is what we call the church life.
- The local church we commit ourselves into is:
- A group of Christians who are saved, live the church life together, grow together, and are being built up together in the Lord.
- We come together in the grace of God by surpassing the limitation of the knowledge of the truth, the practices of the church life, or the appreciation of any spiritual person
- We become one in the Lord beyond the differences in personal characters, races, sex, and rank etc. (Gal. 3:28, Col. 3:11)
- We expect that the church is a home that we can be nourished and enjoy and grow together. We hope this is a place that others desire to come and pursue the Lord with us.
