Lord’s Day Message

Topics: To Live a Sanctified Life in Love

Bible Verses: 1 Thess. 3:11~4:12

Important Verses:

“And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, as we do for you, so that he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.” (1 Thess. 3:12~13, ESV)

“Finally, then, brothers, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, just as you are doing, that you do so more and more. For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor,” (1 Thess. 4:1~4)

“For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness. Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.” (1 Thess. 4:7~8)

Message Outline:

Church life is a corporate life in which we are built with each other in love. However, we should be watchful as the lust of the flesh from Satan may destroy the work of God.

1. The exhortation of living in love

• Paul encouraged the saints to increase and abound in love. He also reminded the brothers and sisters to live a sanctified life.
• In loving each other the brothers and sisters will definitely have a lot of contacts. In these contacts we need God’s light to shine and protect us so that we will not fall into the temptation of lust.

2.  To live a life pleasing to God

• For a flesh person, the self is always the centre and he/she will live for his/her own enjoyment and benefits. This is the reason why a fleshly person will easily fall into the trap and temptation of Satan.
• Pleasing God in our living will make our hearts turn to God and be close to Him to receive His enlightening and protection.

3.  To live in God’s will – sanctification from sexual immorality

• God’s will is for us to live a sanctified life because the God who called us is holy (1 Pet.1:15~16).
• God has given us the life of His Son without any reservation, so we need to consider what kind of living can match such life? What kind of living can be consistent with God’s plan and His expectation? What kind of living pleases Him?
• For the lust of the flesh we need to escape/flee (2 Tim. 2:22) that we won’t fall into any temptations.

4.  To live quietly, to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands

• The background: Because of Lord’s coming many thought ignorantly they don’t need to work anymore. They went to other’s house for food and gossiped.
• We need to know the truth of the Lord’s coming which will help us to live a life truly pleasing to God.

 Announcements：

1. If there is a gospel friend who wants to be baptized, please contact Brother Yu-Lin Wang or Richard Chen, so a talk before the baptism will be arranged on the lesson concerning the truth of the baptism.
2. Please make the meeting on time or even earlier so that all can come together to enjoy the presence of the Lord and His rich supply.
3. The church will organize a 3 days blending activity at Myuna Bay Resort on April, 19-21. All are welcome to participate. Please ask Richard and Lamee for details. On April 21, there is still a meeting in meeting hall.
4. On Saturday April 27, the church will hold a young people conference in meeting hall. The topic will be on the book of Ruth. The young people can sleep over in meeting that night with the consent of parents and notice to Brother Yu-Lin or Sister Jessica.
5. In June and July there are perfecting trainings in Cleveland, USA. On June 17~21 and 24~29, the training is for the study on Galatians. On July 8~12 and 15~19 the topics is on serving and prophesying. If any brother or sister is interested to participate, please contact Brother Yu-Lin Wang.

 Intercession：

1. Pray for Brother Changchun Ma and Sister Danan Lu who are newly baptized. May the Lord help them to grow and become His testimony. Also pray the Lord to care for Sister Lu’s health.
2. May the Lord give every brother and sister a spirit of preaching gospel and open the hearts of all friends that they can receive the salvation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
3. Pray that the Lord will give every brother and sister healthiness, peace and joy in our daily living. May the Lord heal those who are sick according to His good will that we can experience His great love and power of resurrection.
