Topics: Paul’s Testimony of his preaching the gospel
Bible Verses: 1 Thess. 2
Important Verses:
“For our appeal does not spring from error or impurity or any attempt to deceive, but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts.” (1 Thess. 2:3~4, ESV)
“But we were gentle among you, like a nursing mother taking care of her own children. So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us.” (1 Thess. 2:7~8)
“For you know how, like a father with his children, we exhorted each one of you and encouraged you and charged you to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory.” (1 Thess. 2:11~12)
Message Outline:
- Background: Facing the criticism and attack to his ministry, Paul expressed how he preached the gospel and served the church.
- The preaching the gospel
- Paul’s serving is not only in words, but comes is the midst of men as Jesus did. (1)
- Paul’s preaching is not from error or impurity or any attempt to deceive (3)
In preaching the gospel, the truth must be correct and not according to man’s thought but to God’s will. The person who preaches must be upright and sanctified without the lusts of the flesh and the eyes. The motive of preaching must be pure and neither for personal benefits nor with earthly motivation.

3. Nursing like a mother (7~8)
- Gentleness
- Nursing her own children
- Sharing her own soul life
The serving in the church life must care for people in a gentle spirit and supply life to people. The serving one must try his/her best that others can be benefited. We must feel that others are so dear to us.
We need to learn what we can to supply others? When we say we are willing share our soul life with others, what do we feel, consider and plan for others?
4. Exhorting like a father (9~12)
- Labour and toil without becoming a burden to others
- Be holy and righteous and blameless
- Exhorting, encouraging and charging that people may walk in a manner worthy of God
The serving ones are the representatives of the glorious Lord. Also the purpose of our serving is to help people walk in a manner worthy of God that they have a life within to be one with God and a outward living to become His expression.
5. The applications in the church life today
We need to seek before the Lord and ask, “Lord, who is my spiritual parent? Who can I talk to in my distress? Who can I seek help when I am in need?”
Likewise, we also need to learn, “Lord, how can I go in the midst of people and become their spiritual helper? What and how can I nourish them, exhort them, that they may grow in life?”

Intercession：
- Pray for Brother Changchun Ma and Sister Danan Lu who are newly baptized. May the Lord help them to grow and become His testimony. Also pray the Lord to care for Sister Lu’s health.
- May the Lord give every brother and sister a spirit of preaching gospel and open the hearts of all friends that they can receive the salvation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- Pray that the Lord will give every brother and sister healthiness, peace and joy in our daily living. May the Lord heal those who are sick according to His good will that we can experience His great love and power of resurrection.
