Lord’s Day Message
Topics: Church’s Outlook in 2013
Bible Verses:
“Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.” (Rom. 12:11, ESV)
“For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.” (1 Tim. 3:13)
“who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Tim. 2:4)
“For I rejoiced greatly when the brothers came and testified to your truth, as indeed you are walking in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” (3 John 3~4)
“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” (Jam. 4:8)
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” (Phi. 4:6, NLT)
Message Outline:
- Serving the Church
- Serving in the church is not the responsibility or privilege of few people. We need more people to participate in various serving.
- Through the participation of more people not only can the serving be improved, but the Spirit also has freedom to move in the church to make the saints grow.
2. Pursuing the Truth
- To know the truth is the will of God.
- To know the truth we need spend time to read the Bible and even to read with the brothers and sisters.
- The pursuing of the truth is not only for our knowledge but to change our living.
3. Living closer to the Lord
- The God we believe in is living and true (1 Thes. 1:9) and He is a person we need to be close to.
- The transformation and testimony of our living is not because of how “good” we are, but because of God who can change us when we are close to Him.
- In our living we need to exercise to put everything in prayer, petition, and thanksgiving.
- Learn to intercede for other saints instead of criticizing, complaining, or doubting.
- Learn to enjoy hymns and spiritual books and through these come before the Lord.
