Message: Acts 2:40-47

⁴⁰ And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.” ⁴¹ So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.

⁴² And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. ⁴³ And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. ⁴⁴ And all who believed were together and had all things in common. ⁴⁵ And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. ⁴⁶ And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, ⁴⁷ praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

Message Outline: Some important things in the church life

1. The teaching and fellowship of the apostles

• Apostles’ teaching: the words and meaning of the Bible and of the Lord Jesus
• Fellowship: joint participation and common participation
• A living of pursuing together and mutual sharing in truth and light

2. Breaking bread and prayer

• Remembering the Lord’s salvation and communication with God
• To treasure, enjoy, and experience the Lord’s salvation with a living of godliness and fear

3. Meeting at homes

• A place to receive teaching and fellowship and to practice breaking the bread and prayer
• To fellowship with the brothers and sisters in reality and to experience mutual caring and support

4. The fruits of the gospel

• A natural result from a healthy church life

Announcements:

1. We welcome all the new ones who are joining us today. May God bless you and lead you into this family of God.
2. Next Lord’s Day, Mother’s Day, we will buy food from outside for lunch. There is no need to bring food to the meeting hall.
3. 20/5 the Lord’s Day afternoon there will be a meeting for the food service. If you are serving, please come to the meeting.

27/5 the Lord’s Day afternoon we will fellowship on the service of breaking bread and cleaning.

4. The dates of the US trip for the Cleveland training: 23-28/7 (1^st week), 30/7-3/8 (2^nd week). If you are willing to go, you can choose to go for the first week or join for the entire two weeks. Please fellowship with Brother Yulin Wang for details.

Intercession:

1. May the Lord bless the gospel meeting next week and may the Spirit touch people, leading them to know how precious the Lord is and become willing to believe in Him.
2. Pray for the new believers (4 brothers: Stephen, William, Yuan Liu and Yuan-Pei Zhao as well as 13 sisters: Vanessa Lu, Lili Chen, Jenny Zhu, Yun-Yue Lin, Li-Qin Wu, Yun Zhu, Joies, Ariel Chen, Lu Gan, Lan-Xiu Zhang, Li-Fang Ge, Kelie Wei and Li-Yuan Xu. May the Lord establish them in the church life and bless their growth in life.
3. Pray for the brothers and sisters or their relatives who are weak in body or spirit. May the Lord care for them and give them sufficient grace.
