Lord’s Day Message: 2 Peter Review

  1. Introduction to salvation – the living of growth in life

His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence,  by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. (1:3-4)

For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1:5-8)

  1. To know God’s word in a proper way and the warning against the false teachers

And we have something more sure, the prophetic word, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. (1:19-21)

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.  (2:1)

  1. The living of waiting for the Lord’s coming

Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. (3:11-13)

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.  (3:18)

  1. Pray that the Lord will bless the gospel friends among us to receive His salvation. Also pray that the Lord will keep us fervent in spirit to have more learning in the work of the gospel.

Also pray for the gospel meeting of hymns singing on Feb. 7 that through the hymns and testimonies many gospel friends can know and accept the Lord.

  1. Pray for the newly baptized Sister Yi-Nan Zhao and Sister Bi Han. May the Lord bless their spiritual growth in life. Also pray for David and Nicole who has stood up to receive the Lord on 13/12. May the Lord bless and lead them that they can be soon baptized into God’s family.
  2. We thank the Lord that 7 young people have received bountiful supply in the church conference in US. May all of them can continue to pursue earnestly in their spirit and bring the blessings to the church.
