Lord’s Day Message:

Christian Living – a living with pursuing

Bible Verses: (ESV)

8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ  9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith– 10 that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.12 Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.

13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. (Phil. 3:8-15)

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Matt. 5:3)

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, (Phil. 2:5)

But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. (2 Cor. 2:14)

Message Outline

  1. Why we need to pursue?

In our life we are always pursuing something of worth, either a person or a subject, which can makes us joyful and satisfied. The Christian living is also a living of pursuing. In this heavenly pursuing we can receive the eternal joy and satisfaction.

  1. The object of our pursuing
  2. Pursue Christ because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ
  3. To lay hold on that for which also I was laid hold on by Christ Jesus. (ASV)
  4. How can we pursue?
  5. Poor in spirit
  6. Having the mind which is in Christ. By reading the Bible we may know God’s will.
  7. Loving what Christ loves. Learn to love the souls of others that they can receive God’s salvation. Learn to love brothers and sisters that we can supply and support each other in our Christian journey.
  8. The outcome of our pursuing

As we pursue Christ we will be full of His fragrance. By spreading such fragrance we attract others to know Christ and gain Christ.
